Dear
Act Now to Make Minnesota a Solar Leader in the New Year! |
Nearly 90 percent of Minnesotans support getting more of our electricity from solar.1 With each solar panel that goes up, we're moving Minnesota beyond coal, creating jobs, and sending fewer energy dollars out of state.
However, we're lagging far behind other states like New Jersey and Pennsylvania in solar power production. With a robust state solar standard, we can make sure Minnesota gets in on the economic and environmental benefits of clean energy.
Tell your legislators to pass a 10 percent solar standard by 2030 through the legislature this year.
Minnesota has what it takes to spark a solar revolution in the Upper Midwest. Our solar potential exceeds that of solar leaders like Germany and we are already manufacturing innovative solar planels and components.
What we're lacking is a 10 percent solar standards and leadership at our utilities to make our solar industry a national leader. To harness Minnesota's true potential, we need to create a market in which solar can thrive.
Tell your legislators to take action to make Minnesota a solar leader!
Right now we send at least $20 billion each year to pay for energy -- that's $3,800 for every Minnesotan.2 By investing in solar energy we can keep more of those dollars cycling through Minnesota's economy, providing an enormous economic boost for our state.
Just yesterday our new legislature was sworn in at the Capitol. Our moment is now -- with new leadership and environmental champions at the helm of many key committees, we finally have an opportunity to make progress on clean energy.
Ask your legislators to seize the opportunity to make solar a priority this year.
Sincerely,
Joshua Low,
Sierra Club North Star Chapter
