When tens of thousands of citizens gather on the National Mall to speak for the climate on February 17, they'll need to know the rest of the country has their backs.
And President Obama will need to know that this is a national movement -- that the crowd at his front door represents all of us.
This means even folks who can't make it to Washington -- especially folks
who can't make it to Washington -- have a critical role to play in the rally.
Bring your voice together with those at the rally as one, and schedule a Facebook post or a tweet with our new Thunderclap tool.
Thousands of identical posts from all 50 states will go up at the same time, and we'll show them on stage in Washington!
Thunderclap is an easy app to use. Just be sure you're logged into Facebook or Twitter, and then click the appropriate button on the Thunderclap page. When the rally starts at noon, thousands of us will automatically show the same post to all our friends and family -- a post that amplifies our voices, spreads the message of the rally, and calls on President Obama to act:
"I call on Barack Obama to move #ForwardOnClimate. Pls RT & watch the largest US rally for climate action live."
From rejecting toxic tar sands pipelines like Keystone XL to limiting carbon pollution from our nation's dirty power plants and firing up our clean energy economy, Barack Obama's legacy as president will rest squarely on his administration's response, resolve, and leadership in solving the climate crisis. By tying our voices across all fifty states with those on the ground in Washington, we can remind him of his promise, and help move the White House to act.
When we speak together, from all corners of the country, our voices are louder than Big Oil or Big Coal's deep pockets. Will you schedule Facebook and Twitter posts today with Thunderclap?
We're told that this could be the biggest use of Thunderclap ever, a true watershed moment for both the climate movement and social media. Be a part of this and take action today!
Thanks for all you do,
Forward on Climate Rally Director
