After careful consideration of the candidates running for Mayor of Los Angeles, the Sierra Club has endorsed Eric Garcetti due to his outstanding record on environmental issues while on the Los Angeles City Council and his proven record of leadership on environmental issues.

 

Eric Garcetti has delivered proven results on the environment in the neighborhoods he represents and citywide and as Mayor we believe that he will drive an agenda to make L.A. cleaner, healthier and more prosperous.

Garcetti has an unmatched environmental record. He authored the nation's largest green building ordinance, the nation's largest local clean water initiative, and legislation making L.A. the nation's largest city with a solar feed-in-tariff. He nearly tripled the number of parks in his district by finding innovative ways to create 31 new neighborhood parks. He led the effort to pass the plastic bag ban and Low Impact Development Ordinance.
