The Arizona Legislature is once again seeking to derail efforts for Arizonans to save money and energy. SB1321residential energy efficiency building codes (Griffin, Burges, Farley, et al.) – would prohibit counties, cities, towns, or other political subdivisions from further regulating residential energy consumption or energy efficiency and establishes a low standard for efficiency. This is a terrible idea, as cities and counties are the only ones doing much on promoting energy efficient buildings. This bill is scheduled to go to the Senate Floor this week! Please contact your Senator and urge him/her to vote NO on SB1321! For more information, please contact Sandy Bahr at (602) 253-8633 or sandy.bahr@sierraclub.org. |

Clean energy advocates and leaders from across the West are urging policymakers to enact policies and to support investments in renewable energy and energy efficiency that would modernize our electric system while slashing climate disrupting pollution. With President Obama calling for action to address climate disruption in his State of the Union address, a series of white papers and a video are being released to help illustrate how adopting a Clean Energy Vision rather than business as usual will move the West forward. The video, produced by Western Clean Energy Advocates (which includes Sierra Club), shows how a cleaner energy system will increase our energy security, create new high-tech jobs, and avoid harm to our health, land, and water, in addition to reducing climate pollution. Watch the video and learn more! |
