Join Us for a Green Building Tour on April 23!
In many of its communities, Meritage Homes features a deconstructed home, which shows the numerous energy-efficiency features that are standard in its developments. We will tour one of these homes; learn more about each of the features; and discuss energy efficiency in Arizona, what you can do save money on your own bills, and how you can help advance efficiency in our state. |

In 2011, Tucson Electric Power (TEP) invested about $11 million in energy-efficiency programs, helping its customers lower their electric bills and reducing the amount of pollution from coal- and gas-fired power plants. However, the Arizona Corporation Commission has become increasingly hostile to energy-saving programs and never approved TEP's 2012 energy-efficiency plan, causing the TEP programs to be put on hold. As a result, only about $5 million was invested in energy efficiency in Tucson in 2012. Tucsonans saved less energy, which meant fewer dollars in their pockets for other things. As of March 1, 2013, however, TEP has reinstated its energy efficiency programs. To find out more about the programs and how you can save on your electric bill, go to TEP Efficiency Programs. To find out more about what we are doing to move TEP from coal to clean energy, please contact Dan Millis at dan.millis@sierraclub.org. |
