Dear
The U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) announced on April 16, 2013, that it is considering a license amendment that would allow
Southern California Edison to restart the San
Onofre Nuclear Generating Unit 2 at 70% power.* The public has 30 days to provide comments.
Please tell the NRC to just say NO to the recent request by Southern California Edison for a "License Amendment" to restart San Onofre Nuclear Generating Unit 2.
Southern California Edison requested a "license amendment" in order to avoid a full Adjudicated License Amendment with sworn witnesses, evidentiary hearings and a judicial decision.
Speeding the restart of San Onofre through a so-called "license amendment" that shortcuts procedures is totally inappropriate given the troubled history and current condition of the plant, let alone the raised level of public concern.
We invite you to join with us in asking the NRC to reject and indeed to completely dismiss Edison's latest maneuver.
The Edison request to the NRC appears to be a last-ditch, desperate attempt to avoid a full review of the failed San Onofre nuclear generators.
Please send your letter to the NRC today telling them to not restart San Onofre. The public comment period ends May 16, 2013.
Thank you for your support.
