1) Cleaning Up the Blackstone, Saturday Outing

Earth Day is almost here, and that means it's almost time for our yearly clean up outing. Once again, we'll be going to pick up along the Blackstone River, this time in Lincoln around the Kelly House (1010 Lower River Road). Tell us you're coming and invite your friends on our Facebook event page. We'll be meeting there at 9:00, carpooling from the office at 8:30. Happy Earth Day!

2) RIPTA Takes Center Stage

The Public Transit Investment Act is scheduled to be heard in the House Finance Committee on April 30th at 1pm. Can you make it? It's our next Statehouse Outing, and it coincides the the Environment Council's annual Earth Day Lobby Day event. One new strategy being employed this year to gain support for the bill is to focus our lobbying efforts more specifically on House Speaker Fox. Editorials like this one have been appearing around the State, and House Reps are signing a letter to the Speaker asking him to live up to his commitments to RIPTA. You can ask your Rep to sign the letter here. On May 2nd we'll be presenting the letter to the Speaker in coordination with a rally in the rotunda of the Statehouse. Put it on your calendar for 3:30pm. This is the year!

3) Complete Streets Event, space limited!
|
Last year we helped get statewide Complete Streets legislation passed. This year, we're working to make sure that it gets implemented. That's why we've started our innovative Road Audit Outings, and that's why the the Coalition for Transportation Choices is holding a Complete Streets Forum on May 13th. Details and a registration form can be found here, and space is limited so sign up today. Also, if you think there is a municipal official (or officials) who needs to attend from your city or town, let them know about it.
