Take Action: Protect and Restore Our Rivers and Streams
Take Action: Protect Our National Forests Our national forests contain 93 million acres of diverse public lands, ranging from the temperate rainforests of Alaska to the subtropical Ocala in Florida. In addition to being beautiful wild places, these forests are the source of 20 percent of our nation's drinking water supply. But our national forests face serious threats from climate change, logging and mining, and off-road vehicle overuse. Tell the U.S. Forest Service to enact new rules to protect our forests. The Sierra Club is proud to join part of the walk, which will celebrate both the tribe's efforts to retire the polluting Reid Gardner coal plant that adjoins their tribal lands and their success in developing the largest solar project on tribal lands in the nation. Sierra Club Arkansas Organizer Glen Hooks was one of the first to witness the spill's devastation. Sierra Club Executive Director Michael Brune joined Glen and Lena Moffitt of the Beyond Oil Campaign in a recent Google Hangout to talk about the spill's aftermath. Watch it here! |
