Take Action: Tell Congress to Support Energy Efficiency Now!
Take Action: No More Toxic Sludge in Our Water Coal-fired power plants produce more toxic waste than any other industry in the United States, including the chemical, plastic, and paint manufacturing industries. They dump millions of pounds of pollutants into our waters every year -- toxins that are dangerous even in very low concentrations. The Environmental Protection Agency estimates that the amount of toxic wastewater from these plants is going to increase 28 percent over the next 15 years. Tell President Obama and the EPA that now is the time to give us strong and sensible safeguards against toxic wastewater. Grassroots Activism: More Than One Million Comments Against Keystone XL! Monday night was the deadline to submit comments to the State Department about the proposed Keystone XL tar sands pipeline. We're proud to say that more than one million people submitted comments calling for the rejection of this dirty and dangerous pipeline. Almost 2,000 people turned out to a Keystone XL hearing in Nebraska last week, too! Thanks for speaking out! More updates to come.
