1) Fossil Free RI: Providence and Beyond
In the blink of an eye the Providence City Council put Rhode Island at the forefront of the fossil fuel divestment movement. On June 20th, the Council voted 11-1 to pass a resolution calling on the City's Investment Board to make plans to divest its fossil fuel holdings within 5 years. Please read and share my take on the big news. What's next? Well, that's easy. The State of Rhode Island should be the first in the nation to make the same commitment. You can sign the petition to Governor Chafee and Treasurer Raimondo asking them to do just that RIGHT HERE.

3) Block Island Wind Farm in Limbo
The proposed Block Island Wind Farm has been held up over the past few months due to questions about how it will connect its transmission lines to the mainland. The preferred choice for Deepwater Wind, the project's developer, is to land the line in Narragansett, buried under the town beach there. However, a very angry and vocal grassroots movement to stop what would be the first offshore wind farm in the country has pushed the Narragansett Town Council to deny the easements that would make this plan possible. I put myself in the shoes of the Council members, and here's my take. If you agree, please send a message to the Narragansett Council encouraging them to approve the easements.
