Dear
Fellow Sierran
Here's what's in this week's edition of CoolCATs Weekly:
1) Support RI's Bid to be First in Offshore Wind
2) RIPTA Forsaken
3) In Europe the Future is Now
2) RIPTA Forsaken
|
It was a disappointing year for environmental advocacy at the Statehouse this year. The biggest of the disappointments is the complete disregard for RIPTA's dire finances. Not only was the bus agency's current year deficit left unaddressed, but the deficit for the coming year is set to balloon to 10 million dollars. It will take a miracle to avoid catastrophic service cuts. I have a post up on RI Future for a deeper look at this legislative failure.

3) In Europe the Future is Now
|
While we struggle to find the political will to make the necessary transition to renewable energy, Europe is charging ahead, particluarly with offshore wind installations. In fact, England just opened the biggest such wind farm in the world. With 175 turbines, it will produce an estimated 630 Megawatts of electricity. Here's the full story.
