Dear
Fellow Sierran
Here's what's in this week's edition of CoolCATs Weekly:
1) Eco-BBQ
2) Civic Outing: Fossil Free Canvass
3) Banner Making Party and Brayton Point
1) Eco-BBQ
|
On July 28th, the Chapter is holding its 2nd annual Eco-Barbecue. This time we'll be doing it at New Urban Farmers in Pawtucket. First though we'll be hiking on the close at hand 10 Mile Greenway. FULL DETAILS and RSVP HERE. The barbecue itself will once again be done in a pot-luck fashion, but we'll provide eco-friendly plates and utensils and water for drinking. Please email outings@risierraclub.org to coordinate what you might bring or for further information.

2) Civic Outing: Fossil Free Canvass
|
After a brief hiatus, the Civic Outings Program is continuing. On Thursday we'll do a training/outing of one of the most basic community organizing skills, door-to-door canvassing. In this case, we'll be knocking on doors in Bristol to gather petition signatures asking for state divestment and to turn people out to the Brayton Point action on Sunday. This is for both the experienced and novice canvasser, and it provides an excellent opportunity to learn how to canvass effectively, a useful ability in all walks of life. Please RSVP here so we have a clipboard and materials for you (or simply reply to this email). We'll be meeting at 4:00pm in Bristol, at 45 Division Street, 02809. First we'll do a short training and then we'll be knocking on doors by 5pm, so you can be a little late if need be. I hope to see you there!

3) Banner Making Party for Brayton Point
|
Speaking of getting rid of Brayton Point, we're getting ready in another fun way. Tomorrow, we'll be hosting a banner making party at the office from 6-8:30pm (42 Rice St. Providence 02907). In addition to making the banner that will represent RI on the big day, we'll be making buttons and signs. CAN YOU MAKE IT?
