1) Tricia Jedele calls out the deniers

The Deepwater Wind offshore wind project has brought out the climate deniers and renewable energy opponents in throngs. After the damage that Rhode Island has suffered at the hands of climate change, the debate has been discouraging, to say the least. Thankfully, there are people like Tricia Jedele of the Conservation Law Foundation to restore reason. Please SHARE THIS ARTICLE with your friends.

2) The event that wasn't

An amazing amount of effort went into preparing for Vice President Biden's visit to Newport last week. We were just about ready to have a huge crowd on hand to welcome him with the message of No Keystone Pipeline. Beau Biden's serious illness interrupted those plans, causing the VP to cancel his trip here. Our thoughts are with the Bidens at this difficult time. Fortunately, it is apparent that the momentum of the climate action movement is as strong as it was back in February when more than 35,000 people gathered in DC to stop the pipeline. Let's keep it going. We are in the beginning planning stages of doing a big anti-Keystone event in late September. Stay tuned!

3) Vermont Yankee closing

While much of our attention has been focused on reducing carbon emissions, the ongoing Fukushima disaster has been in the background reminding us that nuclear power is no solution. Good news today! The Vermont Yankee nuclear plant in Brattleboro is being closed by its owner Entergy. Read the details here.
