Net metering is an issue of critical importance to our state. This is a mechanism that allows residents with solar on their rooftops to receive fair market compensation for excess energy generated that is sent back into the grid. Unfortunately, Arizona Public Service has proposed changes to its net metering provisions that would either significantly decrease compensation solar customers receive or would significantly increase the rate they pay. Currently, they are emphasizing costs and not acknowledging the many benefits from rooftop solar Please act on this important issue! Attend this meeting and/or submit comments online.
You can also submit comments online! For more information, contact Will Greene at (480) 259-7551 or will.greene@sierraclub.org. |

The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) is seeking public comment on proposals to reduce haze-forming pollutants, particularly nitrogen oxide emissions, from Navajo Generating Station, that pollute skies over Grand Canyon and other national parks and wilderness areas and that harm public health. Sierra Club wants to make sure the plant reduces its unhealthful pollutants. We are asking that the plant operators simply comply with EPA's proposed rule or opt for a combination of retirement and retrofits that would meet the same or greater reductions. Please come and show your support, whether or not you plan to speak. You do not have to stay for the entire time -- it is most important that you be there for the early part of the hearings.

'Tis the season to give thanks! What better way to kick off Thanksgiving week than by joining us for a green building tour?
In many of its communities, Meritage Homes features a deconstructed home, which shows the numerous energy-efficiency features that are standard in its developments. We will tour one of these homes; learn more about the features; and discuss energy efficiency in Arizona and what you can do to help advance efficiency in our state. Please join us! For more information and to RSVP, contact Tiffany Sprague at (602) 253-9140 or tiffany.sprague@sierraclub.org. |
