1) State Properties Committee Meeting This Wednesday
The future of the Block Island Wind Farm project hangs in the balance over the course of the next couple of weeks. As you'll recall, this is the project that would be the first offshore wind farm installed in the US, putting five turbines in the water producing a total of 30MW of clean electricity. The first hurdle is Wednesday's State Properties Committee meeting, where the new plan to land the transmission cables at Scarborough Beach will be reviewed. Please consider coming out and even speaking in support of this important project. The meeting is at 10am in Conference Room A of the Department of Administration Building (1 Capitol Hill, 02908). You can RSVP here.

2) DEM Wind Farm Meeting Next Wednesday
The next hurdle comes exactly a week later on December 11th down in Narragansett where DEM will be holding a hearing at the public library about the new landing site. The time of the event is 6pm, and the Mary Loontjens Memorial Library is located at 35 Kingstown Road, 02882. Again, please show up and lend your voice to supporting this critical project. You will not have a better opportunity to have a personal impact on the transition to a renewable energy future. You can RSVP here.
3) TAKE ACTION: Send Letters and Turn Out
And even if you can't make it to either meeting, you can still make your voice heard, and I'm going to make it easy for you. First and most importantly, you can write a letter to the editor of your local paper in support of the Block Island Wind Farm. JUST CLICK HERE. Plus, if you haven't already done it, you can send an email in support of the project to members of the State Properties Committee as well as DEM's Director Janet Coit using this simple action alert page.

4) Robert Malin Weighs In On Solar
Getting off the topic of the Block Island Wind Farm for a moment but sticking with renewables in RI, Sierra Club activist extraordinaire has put a post up (with video!) on RI Future about the Growing Solar in RI event that happened a the week before last. Check it out.
