Dear
Fellow Sierran
Here's what's in this week's edition of CoolCATs Weekly:
1) Germany Lights the Way
2) Deepwater Wind Clears the First Hurdle
3) DEM Wind Farm Meeting Wednesday, TAKE ACTION!
1) Germany Lights the Way
|
The naysayers tell us that it's just not realistic to power the world with renewable energy. They cherry pick stories out of Europe, where many countries are running laps around our own efforts at transitioning to clean energy, to show that it isn't working, so we shouldn't even bother. We're the next Saudi Arabia, right?! I hope you will join me in sharing with those folks this story on how Germany is in reality succeeding beyond all expectations. It's a great read and an affirmation of a lot of hard work by the likes of Sierra Club.

2) Deepwater Wind Clears the First Hurdle
|
Last week, the State Properties Committee approved easements that Deepwater Wind was seeking from the Department of Environmental Management and the Department of Transportation, so that it can land the transmission cables from the Block Island Wind Farm at Scarborough State Beach in Narragansett. You can read all about it in the South County Independent.

3) DEM Wind Farm Meeting Wednesday, TAKE ACTION!
|
The next step for the Block Island project happens Wednesday in Narragansett. Can you make it? We've created a whole page to make it easy for you to sign up to come! If you can't make it, you can write a letter to the editor of your local paper in support of the Block Island Wind Farm. JUST CLICK HERE. Here's a nice example from this week's South County Independent.

Thank you for signing up for Cool CATs Weekly. You can make your community "Cool" by advocating for renewable power, green buildings and transportation choices. Visit the Cool Cities website for resources and toolkits.
Sincerely,
