Here we go! On Monday, we will start the second regular session of the 51st Arizona Legislature. It will begin with the State of the State address by Governor Brewer in the afternoon and many speeches by legislators. So far, there is not too much committee
activity posted as not that many bills have been introduced. I expect
that will change on Monday though.
Please mark your calendar for
Environmental Day on February 18th and also note that we are holding a
Citizen Lobby Workshop in Phoenix on Monday evening (see details below). We will be scheduling
additional workshops in Tucson and Flagstaff and other locations, so let
me know if you are interested in attending one.
One thing I wanted to point out to you all is that the Arizona Legislative Council has changed the Request to Speak system, so you will not be able to sign in to speak on a bill or register an opinion until you set up a new account. If you included your email information with your original sign up, you should be getting an email on Monday to ask you about transitioning. If you did not, you will have to make a trip to the Capitol to set up the account. After that, you will again be able to sign in remotely. Shoot me an email or call me if you have any questions.
This is my 19th legislative session -- that is very hard to believe -- and I want to thank all of you for your support over those 19 years and for all you do to communicate with legislators and others to make Arizona a better place.
Here are the details on Environmental Day.

We are switching over our Legislative Tracker, so it may be a week or so before we get that updated, but right now, there are very few bills to track.
If you no longer want to receive these updates, just zap me an email or unsubscribe by clicking on "Manage Preferences" at the bottom of the message.
Please come join me at the Capitol and thank you for taking action and for caring about Arizona's environment.

Attend a Citizen Lobby Workshop
Want to start the New Year off right? Interested in promoting clean energy and protecting Arizona’s air, land, and water? Please join us for this fun (yes fun) and informative workshop. Arizona needs more advocates who are willing to meet with legislators, city council people, county supervisors, and other officials who have enormous impact on our future and on what kind of legacy we leave for the next generation. The workshop runs two hours and covers the basics on the Arizona Legislature, how a bill becomes a law, how a bill really becomes a law, and Dos and Don'ts of Citizen Lobbying.
