Dear
Fellow Sierran
Here's what's in this week's edition of CoolCATs Weekly:
1) What a year!
2) Instant Planetary Climate Change?
3) Carbon Free Cars
1) What a year!
|
The reason I have such confidence that we will amaze ourselves in 2014 is founded on what we were able to do in 2013. If you haven't seen our video retrospective, don't miss it. Let's use the momentum we built up last year to push through legislative victories in the upcoming legislative session. I'm especially looking forward to making RI the next state to pass a climate solutions act and to set the strongest goals in the country for carbon emission reductions.

2) Instant Planetary Climate Change
|
In the last newsletter of last year, I referenced Charles Dickens's Great Expectations, and it's famous opening line, "it was the best of times, it was the worst of times." I spoke of the real potential to kick the carbon habit and the urgency of the climate crisis that requires us to do it. Every new study on the climate emphasizes this urgency. Please read and share this great article which offers a compelling synopsis of the danger we are now in.

3) Carbon Free Cars
|
Sierra Club Executive Director Mike Brune has laid out a bold plan to transition the US electric grid to be entirely renewably powered by 2030. That still leaves a lot of carbon emissions associated with our transportation system unaddressed. Good news, Ford has developed a solar powered prototype that could be the next step in weaning ourselves from oil. Check it out.
