Dear
Fellow Sierran
Here's what's in this week's edition of CoolCATs Weekly:
1) TAKE ACTION TO APPROVE: The Block Island Wind Farm
2) TAKE ACTION TO DISAPPROVE: The Keystone XL Pipeline
3) Be A Hero
1) Block Island Wind Farm Hearing Tomorrow!
|
The Block Island Wind Farm has one final state regulatory hurdle to clear on its way to final approval. It's the Coastal Resources Management Council review of the project. Fortunately, the CRMC has already said that they have no objections to the wind farm. Nevertheless, they will be considering public comment at tomorrow's public hearing to see if they should change their attitude at URI's Bay Campus (Corless Auditorium) at 4pm. PLEASE RSVP AND MAKE YOUR VOICE HEARD! or on Facebook.

2) Keystone Vigils Tonight!
|
Yes, it's snowing, but we're Rhode Islanders and we'll brave the weather to make a statement, right?! Tonight, there will be vigils held around the country to protest the Keystone XL Pipeline, which seems like it has been given the green light for approval from the State Department's revised environmental impact statement (EIS) that was released on Friday. Can you make it to one of the vigils planned in RI tonight? MORE INFO and SIGN UP HERE!
|
3) Be A Hero
|
The Earth (at least the life that inhabits it) needs us to be heroic in the fight against climate change. But how? The problem seems so large and we so small. Well, if we got ourselves into this mess, we can get ourselves out. Last year, I put together a five minute presentation (like a short TED talk) on how we can all be heroes. PLEASE WATCH IT.
