Make a Call: Oppose the House Week of War on Wildlife and Wild Lands
Take Action: Protect Clean Energy Jobs! Clean energy had a breakthrough year in 2013, and that has the fossil-fuel billionaires running scared. They see their profits being blown away by reliable, cost-competitive, American-made wind farms and solar arrays -- energy sources that don't choke our skies with smog and soot and don't dump mercury and boron into our waters. Now they're taking aim at tens of thousands of clean-energy jobs, as they work with their friends in Congress to erase provisions like the wind energy production tax credit. Congress has failed to renew this important clean-energy measure, and we're already seeing the tragic consequences. Just last week, a major wind turbine manufacturer announced that it will close its factory in western Pennsylvania. We need these good paying American jobs to power our future. Tell Congress to protect our future by renewing the wind energy production tax credit. Grassroots Activism: Major Action on Trade and Fast-Track Congratulations to Sierra Club activists! You're part of a coalition of groups that's gathered more than 600,000 signatures and made 40,000 calls to Congress telling them to oppose the legislation that would fast-track the Trans-Pacific Partnership. The TPP would strip our government's power to manage U.S. gas exports, opening the floodgates for fracking and sacrificing our air and water quality in order to feed foreign markets. Nice job, team! Grassroots Activism: More Than 280 Vigils Against Keystone XL In just a few days, activists planned more than 280 vigils/protests across 49 states against the proposed Keystone XL tar sands pipeline! The vigils happened Monday night -- and thousands of people attended. Check out the great photos and videos. |
