1) Recapping the CRMC Wind Farm Hearing
The Coastal Resources Managament Council's Ocean SAMP subcommittee met on Tuesday of last week to hear the case for and public comment on the proposed Block Island Wind Farm. It couldn't have gone better for Deepwater Wind, which presented a comprehensive and compelling argument that the project is well planned and will have minimal negative environmental impacts. Moreover, the crowd of more than 100 people who came out were overwhelmingly supportive of the project. Sierra Club members showed up in force, and I was happy to report on the evening in the Patch.com. The only draw back to the hearing was that many of those who came to offer testimony were unable to speak because of time constraints. In order to rectify the situation, another hearing will be scheduled on the mainland in addition to the one that will be held on Block Island later this month. We'll keep you posted.

2) Annual Chapter Retreat: You're Invited!
Yes, it's that special time of year again when RI Sierra Club members get the chance to come together and plan for the next year of environmental activism. This Sunday from 12pm-3pm, we'll once again be meeting at the Kettle Pond Environmental Education Center at 50 Bend Rd. in Charlestown, 02813. RSVP and MORE INFO HERE. Please come and help us grow to even greater heights in 2014.

3) Chomsky and the Ecological Perspective
Last year, I fulfilled a lifelong dream of meeting Noam Chomsky. Better than just meeting him, I had the opportunity to conduct an interview with him. We covered a broad range of issues, and one of those was of course the environment. ENJOY THE SHOW!
