We're THIS CLOSE to Clean Energy
Tired of relatives who complain you never call or write? The Sierra Club is organizing a call-in day on Nov. 15th -- where we'll tell Congress how important it is that they pass energy legislation that puts us on the path to stopping global warming.
Remember: These folks work for us, and calling them is easier than baking a Thanksgiving pie when you use our Call Center. So pick up your phone and let them know you want them to get serious about solving global warming now.

Spacey Says: "Get the Lead Out"
As the holiday shopping season gets under way after 70 product recalls of nearly 10 million items so far in 2007, parents across America still can't be sure that the toys they buy for their children are safe.
To help us get the word out about what we need to do to keep our kids safe, award-winning political cartoonist Mark Fiore created "Spacey the Lead Elf."
The Sierra Club is calling for the immediate resignation of Acting Consumer Product Safety Commission Chair Nancy Nord and the nomination of a Chairperson and Commissioner with proven leadership on consumer product safety issues. Take action to protect children from dangerous toys.

Sierra Students at Power Shift 2007
From November 2nd through 5th, more than 5,500 students from around the country -- including 500 members of the Sierra Student Coalition (SSC) -- converged on Washington, D.C., for Power Shift 2007, the first-ever national youth climate summit. SSC National Campaign Coordinator Maura Cowley says she was moved by how outspoken and creative the students were.
More than 2,000 students gathered for a rally in front of the U.S. Capitol before spending the rest of the day lobbying their representatives in Congress. "In some offices there were 40, 50, even 100 students."
