Dear
Fellow Sierran
Here's what's in this week's edition of CoolCATs Weekly:
1) One Last Chance to Support Offshore Wind
2) The RI Executive Climate Change Council
3) More Solar at Quonset Thanks to Distributed Generation
4) Keystone XL Route Through Nebraska Unconstitutional
2) The RI Executive Climate Change Council
|
Governor Chafee took action last week to address climate change by creating an Executive Council on Climate Change. This council will help to coordinate the way the State's various agencies will work together to adapt to and mitigate climate change. It will be composed of the heads of the Departments of Health, Environmental Management, Transportation, Administration, the CRMC, Commerce Corporation, Office of Energy Resources, and Emergency Management Agency. 3) More Solar at Quonset Thanks to Distributed Generation
|
There was more good news last week out of Quonset Point where a new large solar array funded by the State's Distributed Generation (DG) program has been given a lease. This means more clean energy and more high paying jobs, and it's cause to celebrate. It should also be cause for an extra effort to get the DG program expanded and made permanent. Environment Rhode Island has set up an action alert for you to tell your state legislators to do just that.

4) Keystone XL Route Through Nebraska Unconstitutional
|
One final piece of good news that doesn't come from so close to home but from a judge in Nebraska is that the legislation passed there to allow the Keystone Pipeline to proceed through the state is unconstitutional. The judge agreed with ranchers who challenged the law as an infringement on their property rights. You Can Read More About Tth Decision Here. It just so happens that the vigil to protest KXL earlier this month that was postponed due to snow has been rescheduled for tonight. RSVP AND INVITE YOUR FRIENDS!
