Dear
Fellow Sierran
Here's what's in this week's edition of CoolCATs Weekly:
1) Into the Lion's Den
2) The Phoenix Forum
3) Showtime's Blockbuster
4) Environment Council Gubernatorial Forum
5) Earth Week Calendar
1) Into the Lion's Den
|
Tomorrow I'm going to be participating on a discussion panel at a screening of the anti-wind propaganda film "Windfall." The screening is being hosted by Deepwater Resistance, the grassroots group that has risen up to oppose the Block Island Wind Farm. I hope for a good civil discussion and the opportunity to change some minds on this project, which could turn out to be a critical turning point in the development of the US offshore wind industry. Please consider coming. You can find more information here: http://us3.campaign-archive1.com/?u=8a8dd0992e98df09950bfb228&id=5afd55ae86

2) The Phoenix Forum
|
Then on Thursday I expect a friendlier crowd for the first ever Providence Phoenix Forum. I'll be on the speakers panel, which will trying to be answer the question, "Why isn't Rhode Island the Greenest State in the Country?" I can't wait! That same day I will have an article in the Phoenix about the prospects for statewide climate legislation this year. Please JOIN THE EVENT AND INVITE YOUR FRIENDS on Facebook. It's at 7pm at Betaspring in Providence (95 Chestnut Street, 02903).

3) Showtime's Blockbuster
|
For an informative and entertaining time that doesn't require you to leave the house, Showtime has produced a riveting series of shows on the realities of our changing climate called "Years of Living Dangerously." Even if you don't subscribe to the cable channel (I don't), you can stream the first episode on your computer. It's worth watching. Just follow this link.
|
4) Environment Council Gubernatorial Forum
|
One more thing that you won't want to miss is the Environment Council of Rhode Island's Gubernatorial Forum next Thursday morning (9-11am at the List Art Building). It will feature the Democratic candidates; Taveras, Pell, and Raimondo, and we're still waiting to hear confirmation from the Republican candidates. It's free, please come. MORE INFO HERE.
