Tree Trimming Update
Last year, CT Sierra Club and other environmental groups engaged in a
campaign to stop or minimize the practice of tree
cutting and removal known as enhanced tree trimming (ETT) that utility
companies UI and CL&P used.
The Connecticut legislature passed HB 5408, which became Public Act 14-151 after being signed into law by the Governor this spring. There are positive aspects of the new law and regulation; however, concerns about the new regulations linger. At this time, the defense of trees campaign has wrapped up, but there is a lot for individuals to do. Land owners must vigilantly fight for their trees. [Read more]
