National Drive Electric Week September 15-20
Over 100 events are planned across the nation during the National Drive Week. Co-sponsored by the national Sierra Club, it will bring attention to electric vehicles (EVs) and EV hybrids across the country. Rally against TPP
On August 22nd, a group of CT Sierra Club members and allies came out to rally against Fast Track for the Trans Pacific Partnership (TPP) in Bridgeport. The Sierra Club is deeply concerned about the risks TPP poses to our communities, workers, climate and the environment. [Read more]
Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) Hearings on AIM Pipeline in September
You can attend the following hearings in CT and present oral arguments on the plans put forth by Algonguin Gas Transmission to construct the Alconquin Incremental Market (AIM) pipeline expansion across NY, CT, MA and RI:
- Tuesday, September 9th at 6:30pm at the Holiday Inn Norwich
- Wednesday, September 10th at 6:30pm at Danbury City Hall
The project will cross 67 waterbodies and 86 wetlands in CT and bore under the Hudson and Still Rivers, using 2,800,000 gallons of municipal water. There is not only a risk of contamination by the drilling slurry, but also fracked gas poses serious environmental and health risks, and the rate of leaks and spills is high. [Read more]
