Our favorite chef, Luise Stephan will be cooking for us again this year. We hope you will be able to sign up early, so we can get a good count for purchasing food and bringing the right number of tools.
If you have not been to the Pioneer Forest this is a great opportunity to see some beautiful country, improve our hiking trails and enjoy great food with friends. To sign up or for additional information, contact Paul (314-429-4352), Becky Denney or Brigid O'Malley.

Green Time TV - What Type of Redevelopment?
Green Time
appears in four Missouri areas. In the St. Louis area it airs at noon
on Saturdays on Channel 24-1 and at 8 pm on Mondays on Channel 24-2 on
these dates:
October 4 & 6: “Redeveloping North St. Louis” Romona Taylor Williams and Rev. Elston McCowan discuss how urban renewal dismantled the infrastructure of the black community. They also look at how cities like Paris, France are built more sustainably and how development could happen without excluding people.
October 11 & 13: “Redevelopment Traumas” What are the psychological and social costs of gentrification? How does the rapid gentrification in St. Louis differ from patterns in other communities? Romona Taylor Williams and Samuel Taylor discuss the St. Louis Sustainability Plan and demographic changes in north St. Louis.
October 18 & 20: “West Lake Landfill: The True Story” Dr. Bob Criss and Ed Smith ask why the EPA is holding back information on radioactive waste in the West Lake Landfill. Why have they not properly investigated it? Why have no criminal charges been filed against those responsible? Location in a flood plain and earthquake zone could strongly affect radioactive releases. Radiation can increase the likelihood of leukemia 38-fold and decrease the proportion of male babies born. The waste in West Lake Landfill will actually increase its radioactivity for at least 9,000 years.
October 25 & 27: “Horse Slaughtering” Bonnie Boime explains how horse slaughtering can ruin the environment and economy of a town where a plant is located. She asks if laws require the humane slaughter of horses, how many jobs are really created, and how we can protect horses and communities from the practice.
October shows include the movies “Carfree Cities: The Gritty Details,” “Cully Grove,” “Village Market - Non-Profit, Super Local,” “Big Picture: Atomic Battlefield,” “Horse Slaughter” and “Horse Dallas Crown.”
