Grassroots Activism: School with Solar in Utah Fights to Protect Solar Choice Two weeks ago, students gathered in front of Rowland Hall, an independent PreK-12 school that installed solar panels in 2010, for a press conference to call on Utah policymakers to protect solar choice in the state. Students were joined by their school's sustainability coordinator, local homeowners who have invested in rooftop solar panels to save money and clean the air, and State Senator Luz Escamilla. Nearly 200 Rowland Hall students submitted a petition to the state's regulatory agency requesting that they consider the benefits solar energy brings to Utah as they are reviewing how to calculate the costs and benefits associated with rooftop solar.
