Our Radio's on a Roll
 Sierra Club Radio continues to amaze and delight with the quality of programming and interviews broadcast each and every week.
A couple of weeks ago, we heard how elephants can paint, and how their art is making a difference. Last weekend, best-selling author Michael Pollan talked about his new book, In Defense of Food: an Eater's Manifesto.

A Man of Words and Ideas
 Carl Pope, the Sierra Club's executive director, is seldom at a loss for words (the last time was probably just a little over three years ago). These days, you can find a generous sampling of his prose on his blog, "Taking the Initiative," which focuses on politcs and the environment. (His recent analyses of the environmental positions of various presidential candidates, by the way, are a must-read.)
But you can also find him writing for more traditional venues, such as this recent piece for Democracy: A Journal of Ideas about why "optimism alone won't save the environment."

The Chronicles Start Tonight
 Sierra Club Chronicles, a seven-part series, begins airing today as part of The Green, the Sundance Channel's weekly primetime show focusing on the environment. The 30-minute episodes, produced by Brave New Films in association with Sierra Club Productions, will air every Tuesday at 9:00pm through March 18.
Sierra Club Chronicles features ranchers in New Mexico, first responders to 9/11 in New York City, Alaskan fishermen, neighbors of a chemical plant in Mississippi -- all united in the fight to protect their families, communities, and the places they love from pollution, short-sighted government policies, and corporate greed.
The debut episode, "9/11 Forgotten Heroes," documents how first responders, now afflicted with myriad health problems, were falsely assured there were no health hazards in the aftermath of the terrorist attack.
