Sierra Club, United Steelworkers to Jointly Endorse
Barack Obama for President at Friday Event
Cleveland , Ohio --Using Cleveland's own lakeside wind turbine as the backdrop, the Sierra Club will announce its endorsement of Senator Barack Obama for president. National Sierra Club leaders will be joined at the event by United Steelworkers International President Leo Gerard and Senator Sherrod Brown. Together these environmental, labor, and political leaders will explain why Barack Obama is the leader who will put America on the path to a clean energy economy that creates and keeps millions of jobs, spurs innovation and opportunity, and makes us a more secure nation.
The Sierra Club is the nation's oldest, largest, and most influential grassroots environmental organization, with 1.3 million members and supporters. The United Steelworkers represents 850,000 workers in the United States and Canada employed in the metals, rubber, chemicals, paper, oil refining and other industries as well as the service and public sectors.
