(2) EPA: Public Loses Right to Know

A new rule announced by EPA yesterday will limit information available to you about what toxics are being dumped in your backyard. The rule will disproportionately affect communities of color, which make up 44 percent of the population living within one mile of the polluting facilities. Once again the EPA has failed to make public health and welfare their top priority.

(3) Take Action: Change America Now!

This fall's election was a call for change -- and now it's time for action. Sierra Club recently joined the Change America Now coalition to support the first 100 hours Agenda. At the start of Congress next year, House leadership will introduce legislation to roll back multi-billion dollar subsidies for Big Oil. We have a chance to end the corrupting influence of Big Oil on Congress and to end the giveaways to this polluting industry. While this won't take us to energy independence immediately, it is a move in the right direction.

Send a message to Congress-Change America Now!

(4) Take Action: Make Yourself Heard, Before It's Too Late!

Under a new proposal, entire forest management plans will be exempted from environmental impact reviews, leaving no way to hold the Forest Service accountable for its actions. This proposal will remove chances of meaningful public involvement in managing the forests we own and pay for, and allow the Forest Service, headed by a former timber industry lobbyist to do as it pleases.

Tell the Forest Service we deserve a voice about the fate of our forests!
