4) Girls, Guns and the Sierra Club?

1) Dear Nancy Pelosi...
While others are giving way, Nancy Pelosi is standing up to Big Oil. She understands that we can't drill our way out of this problem and is pushing for real energy solutions that benefit the American people, not Big Oil companies.

Please take a minute to thank her for standing strong and voice your support for stronger fuel economy standards and real investments in energy efficiency and clean, renewable energy.

2) Take Action:
Support the Clean Energy Economy
Before leaving for their summer recess, the Senate failed twice to extend critical clean energy incentives that expire at the end of the year. Letting the credits expire would put jobs at risks and slow investment in renewable energy.

Despite widespread support for the incentives for technologies like wind and solar, a minority of Senators keep standing in the way.

Currents action alert arrowContact your Senator today and tell them that extending incentives for renewable energy and energy efficiency should be at the top of their agenda when they return to Washington next month!

3) Take Action: Support the Big Thicket Expansion
CanoeThanks to a new bill introduced in Congress, kids could soon be taking canopy walks, canoeing, kayaking, hiking, and enjoying more of the great outdoors.

The Big Thicket expansion bill adds 100,000 acres to the Big Thicket National Preserve in East Texas and provides for the construction and operation of numerous educational facilities to teach children and young adults about wildlife, the environment and the importance of protecting it.

Currents action alert arrowUrge your Senators and Representatives to support this important piece of legislation!

4) Make the World a Better Place
In a first ever joint effort, the Sierra Club, the Girl Scouts and California Waterfowl are uniting to support a measure that would give many kids their first chance to learn and play outdoors.

The Leave No Child Inside Act provides outdoor experiences to at-risk and underserved populations, giving them new chances to get outdoors through formal school programs and community organizations that provide outdoor education and recreational experiences.
