FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: August 21, 2008 CONTACT at Convention: Sierra Club Plans Action-Packed Schedule at Democratic National Convention Denver, CO—With energy issues at the forefront of the political debate in America, the Sierra Club has put together a full schedule of events at the Democratic National Convention in Denver. The Sierra Club’s delegation to the convention will be lead by Sierra Club Executive Director Carl Pope and National Political Director Cathy Duvall. They will be appearing at a wide variety of public events throughout the week. "Energy has become the focus of this election and the political conversation in America," said Pope. "Denver is going to be the greenest convention in history and we look forward to discussing the important role that clean energy solutions can play in solving our country’s energy and economic crises. Once the nominating conventions are done, the Sierra Club will redouble its efforts to educate our members and the public about the importance of solving our energy crisis and end Big Oil’s chokehold on our economy and politics once and for all." The Sierra Club’s participation in the convention will be made carbon-neutral using high-quality offsets purchased from NativeEnergy, the official offsets provider for the convention. The Sierra Club team will also be blogging throughout the convention at: Huffington Post, Treehugger, Gristmill, Sierra Club Compass, and Carl Pope’s Taking the Initiative blog.
