FEATURED GROUP: Sangre de Cristo Group - Southern Colorado Under Siege

By Ross Vincent, SdCG Executive Committee Chair

The Sangre de Cristo Group continues to struggle with multiple assaults on the people and places of southeastern Colorado, chief among them the Pentagon’s plans to capture most of SE Colorado for a massive multi-million-acre joint forces training area.

Their ongoing plans to expand the Army’s Piñon Canyon Maneuver Site in Las Animas County continue to threaten the generational ranchers of the area, the incredible grasslands ecosystems they help to protect, and the irreplaceable historic, cultural and biological resources of the area.  In the meantime, the Army is overloading Fort Carson with new brigades and new missions, and the Air Force is proposing low-level overflights of military aircraft that will blanket most of the western and southern parts of the state.

This war of attrition on the people and places of SE Colorado must stop.  YOU CAN HELP!

Contact Sen. Mark Udall – Tell him to stop the Army’s war on SE Colorado by inserting a sentence in the next Defense Authorization bill that prohibits future expansion of the Piñon Canyon Maneuver Site.

Volunteer – Help us to protect SE Colorado.
