Dirty Oil Tar SandsCandlelight Vigils for a Responsible Canada

In order to produce the world's dirtiest oil, tar sands mining in Canada is destroying the Boreal Forest, the largest remaining intact ecosystem in the world. Communities and wildlife downstream are suffering from increased poison and cancer rates. We have to draw the line at tar sands.

That's why this Wednesday, March 7th, people around the world will attend candlelight vigils at Canadian embassies to take a stand against this destruction.

Check out the list on the right to see if there's a vigil near you, and then RSVP below!  We apologize, but this action is no longer available. Please visit our Action Center for current opportunities: www.sierraclub.org/takeaction

For more information, and to help spread the word, please read and distribute this handy flyer. Then, when you attend the vigil in your city, print and bring photos of the tar sands to help show their devastation to everyone passing by, as well as flowers or other appropriate symbols of mourning.

You can also download interfaith prayers for your tar sands event, courtesy of Interfaith Power and Light.
