They're trying to pull another fast one in the Mississippi Legislature. 

Lobbyists and Legislators alike are trying to railroad through a deal that would bail out Mississippi Power's failing Kemper County Coal Plant, a boondoggle that is already busting its budget and projected to raise electric rates 61 percent.

So like a lot of Fortune 500 companies, when they make a mistake, Mississippi Power is asking the legislature to write them a blank check, payable by the company's customers. But we're on to their game.

With Mississippi Power trying to railroad this bill through, the vote could happen as early as today. The only hope we have to stop this is to get the speaker of the House and the lieutenant governor to hit the brakes and pull the bills off the House and Senate calendars.
