2008 NH Sierra Club Endorsements

Federal - State Senate - State Representative

The New Hampshire Chapter of the Sierra Club list of endorsed candidates in the 2008 elections include Sen. Barack Obama for President, Jeanne Shaheen for US Senate, Congresswoman Carol Shea-Porter for New Hampshire's First District and Congressman Pau Hodes for New Hampshire's Second District.

On the state level, the incumbent Governor John Lynch, 2 Executive Councilors, 14 State Senators and 106 NH State Representatives recieved the Chapter endorsement. Of the total 123 endorsed state candidates, fifty-two are women and 71 men. They all share the same value: to care for the environment when they vote in the State House.

"We are very please to announce today that the New Hampshire Sierra Club officially endorses for election these environmental champions of our state," said Jerry Curran the Political Chair for the New Hampshire Chapter.

"They were selected for endorsement based on responses to an in-depth questionnaire, voting record, and history of environmental involvement. Endorsement by the NH Sierra Club gives the candidates access to the Sierra Club’s New Hampshire membership list and in some cases volunteers to help with their campaigns and financial support."

The Sierra Club has now endorsed John Lynch in all three of his gubernatorial Campaigns.

*these are candidates who are current NH Sierra Club Members and supporters.
