Our Position: Support
Bill Number: HR 890
Sponsor: Rep. Markey / Rep. Platts
Legislative Session: 111th Congress

Overview

Fixing our economy, transforming our energy future, slowing and ultimately reversing climate change and its consequences will require us to repower America with renewable energy resources such as wind, solar, geothermal and biomass. Representatives Ed Markey (D-MA) and Todd Platts (R-PA) have introduced the American Renewable Energy Act which would establish a national renewable electricity standard (RES) of 25 percent by 2025. This legislation would make a critical downpayment on building a robust clean energy economy and spur the creation of thousands of jobs while reducing global warming emissions.
