For over 30 years, the Sierra Club has worked to protect the pristine wilderness of the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge: petitioning Congress to protect the coastal plain as wilderness and blocking numerous attempts to open the refuge to oil and gas development.

We are also working hard to promote a rapid shift to clean, renewable forms of energy which will slow the effects of global warming on the Refuge, as well as organizing citizens in communities around the country to take action to ensure that this crown jewel of our wild heritage is permanently protected.
