In 1889, Enos Mills met Sierra Club founder John Muir in San Francisco. This chance encounter inspired Mills to dedicate his life to conservation. The Sierra Club supported efforts to preserve Rocky Mountain National Park during Mills’ six-year campaign.
Today, the Sierra Club continues to defend Rocky Mountain and all national parks, ensuring Mill’s legacy can be enjoyed by generations to come. In recent years the Club has campaigned to protect wildlands around Rocky Mountain National Park as wilderness and wild and scenic rivers to help protect the entire ecosystem surrounding the park. We have also fought polluting coal-fired power plants, which pollute the air and waters of the park. STEP 2: Select your sponsorship level
