Look below for events going on in your area that you can attend. Most of the actions will take place September 29th, with a few actions taking place in the days that follow.

What: A celebration of EPA's recent decision on 79 MTR permits, and opportunity to ask that EPA retain its power to protect the people and resources of this country. What: Kansans for Clean Energy
Where: Riverfront Park in Lawrence. The press conference will be on the grassy area in front of the River.
Driving Directions: Take the main entrance at the junction of Highways 24, 40 and 59 (Intersection of N. 2nd Street and Highways 24 and 40). The park entrance is marked with a blue sign. Parking is available in the designated public parking area.

What: Christmas in September Rally - Coal Delivery to Entergy CEO, Wayne Leonard.  Entergy has been naughty, and as global warming rises, Christmas came early this year.  Entergy needs to focus more on clean, renewable energy and stop investing money in dirty fossil fuels, such as their RS Nelson plant in Louisiana and White Bluff plant in Arkansas.

What: Coal is Dirty Business Rally. Join us as we call for strong regulations to clean up pollution from big coal. From soot pollution to coal ash to mining to carbon pollution, coal is dirty business and the DTE River Rouge Coal Plant is no exception.   In 2006, the plant emitted:12,307 tons of sulfur dioxide, 3,967 tons of nitrogen oxide, over 3 million tons of carbon dioxide and over 100 lbs of mercury.  Coal-fired power plants are one of the larges sources of air pollution in the US.

What: University of Missouri National Day of Action. We will kick things off with a media event using the Mizzou coal plant in the background at 11am. Then, we will head a few blocks east to Lowry Mall and set up our table to take photo petitions from 11:30 until 4pm.

What: From the Mine to Mirant, Coal is Dirty Business News Conference.
Details: There will be photographic evidence of the destruction from mountaintop removal mining in Virginia, local activists holding signs stating that coal is dirty business and supporting clean energy, canvassing to engage the community, and a photo petition of Virginians against coal. Speakers will include JW Randolph, Legislative Associate with Appalachian Voices, Glen Besa, Sierra Club Virginia Chapter Director, and Kent Baake, Founder & CEO of Continuum Energy Solutions.
