Health Safeguards, Not Big Oil and Coal Handouts

In order to boost Big Oil and Coal's already obscene profits, Representative Fred Upton introduced a bill (H.R.910), which will gut the Clean Air act to make it easier for corporations to pollute the air we breathe.

This is a bill meant to protect the corporate polluters who got Upton elected, not help our economy. By 2020, the Clean Air Act will have saved Americans $2 billion and saved 230,000 lives. Furthermore, it has added $2 trillion to the economy.

But Representatives Henry Waxman and John Dingell are fighting back and asking members of the House to sign a letter opposing dangerous attempts to undermine the Clean Air Act.

Call your U.S. representativeand tell them to stand up to Big Oil and Coal by adding their name to the Waxman-Dingell letter.

You can find your legislator's complete information below.

Check out our talking points:
  1. Some members of the House, like Representative Upton, are attempting to undermine our nation's most fundamental health and environmental laws by blocking the EPA's ability to reduce life threatening greenhouse gas pollution.

  2. Congress should let the EPA do its job -- protecting public health by enforcing pollution safeguards.

  3. The Clean Air Act has a 40 year track record of protecting our health. By 2020, the Clean Air Act will have saved Americans $2 billion and saved 230,000 lives. Furthermore, it has added $2 trillion to the economy.

  4. We need Congressional champions who will defend our nation's well-being by committing to support the Clean Air Act -- not corporate polluter politicians like Fred Upton who will tax our health to generate even more Big Oil and Coal profits.

  5. Will the representative stand up for our nation's health by signing the Waxman-Dingell-Rush letter in support of the Clean Air Act?
