Ol' Fashioned Fish Fry Thursday at Woodruff Park

fish fry

Thanks to everyone who has signed up to speak at the EPA mercury hearing on Thursday!  We have filled up all the slots!

Not to worry, you can still demonstrate your support for a strong rule by coming to our Fish Fry.  We will assemble in front of the hearing at EPA Region IV headquarters at 61 Forsyth Street SW (map) between 5:00 and 5:30 pm.  Come get your sign that says "Protect our Families from Toxic Mercury" or make your own.  We will head a few blocks over to Woodruff Park at 5:30 pm and fill up on (mercury free) fish as we hear from speakers from around the state, talking about how mercury affects Georgia Rivers.  We will then head back to EPA for the evening session of the hearing, which starts at 6:30 pm.

After 20 years of delay, EPA is moving forward with regulating mercury and other toxics from coal-fired power plants.  In 2004, Georgia EPD estimated that over 20,000 babies are born in Georgia every year with elevated levels of mercury, which has been linked to developmental disorders like ADD and autism.  Other ways to help are:

   1. Share this email.
   2. Submit your comment in favor of the rule online.
   3. RSVP by clicking here to REGISTER to attend the May 26 events!
   4. Share the Facebook event on your wall and with your networks.
