Our nation's public lands belong to all Americans, but pro-fracking members of Congress have introduced legislation to let states decide how the oil and gas industry will drill and frack our national forests, wildlife refuges, and public lands. Congress may soon vote on this terrible bill, H.R. 2728, which would turn control of dirty and dangerous fracking and drilling on our federal lands over to the states.

Sierra Club Puerto Rico activists are celebrating a huge rally in Arecibo, where more than 500 turned out to speak up against a proposed waste incinerator. Organizer Adriana Gonzalez said successful coalition work helped raise awareness and land media hits in the fight.

In Georgia last week, more than 200 concerned citizens showed up at hearings in Atlanta to oppose a nearly $500 million rate hike on Georgia Power ratepayers and new fees on solar customers.

The crowd included an array of people, with medical professionals, solar installers, efficiency contractors, mayors, city council people, state representatives and state senators, farmers, students, small business owners, educators, meteorologists, senior citizens, and environmentalists in attendance.
