Dear
From the Sioux of the Great Plains to the Navajo and Hopi of the
Southwest, Native American tribes are fighting to protect their land, air, and water
from the harmful mining and burning of coal on their land.
The Sierra Club's Beyond Coal Campaign and Power Paths Productions invite you to a special presentation of Power Paths, a documentary film that follows Native American tribes as they work to bring renewable energy projects into their communities.
RSVP to attend this exclusive film screening on April 29th, space is limited!
The Beyond Coal Campaign in Los Angeles seeks to educate our city about the coal plants that power Los Angeles – and the pollution that these coal plants bring to the communities surrounding them.
Following the film, a panel from the Navajo Green Economy Coalition who are featured in the film will describe their ongoing efforts to provide just energy and economic transitions to their community.
Speakers include:
- Black Mesa Trust Executive Director, Vernon Masayesva
- Black Mesa Water Coalition, Executive Director, Nikke Alex
- To' Nizhoni Ani (Navajo for Beautiful Water Speaks), Nicole Horseherder and Marshall Johnson
- Sierra Club Southwest Tribal Partnership representative Andy Bessler
Come join us at this extraordinary event to hear representatives from the communities harmed by our city's coal-addiction discuss their work to create just transitions within their community.
You'll also learn about the effort here to get LA off coal and into a clean energy future.
